Plastic mould steels

For the manufacture of plastic parts, steels with a big variety of different properties are required. Depending on the final product properties like corrision resistance, toughness, hardness, high thermal conductivitiy and wear resistance are required.

Manufacture of plastic parts, steels are required which have a high wear resistance and good polishability, which can be easily ED machined and grained and which should have adequate corrosion resistance and be economic to machine. Depending on the properties required, case-hardening steels, heat treatable steels, corrosion resistant steels, nitriding steels and martensite hardening steels or high performance powder metallurgical materials are used.
